The end of Sooraj Pancholi, Athiya Shetty film brings relief, with Sallu Bhai working the end credits, exuding more star power in two minutes than we’ve seen in two hours. This 'Hero' is a zero .
Indiatoday Rating : 1.5/5
Hero is a debut film that makes Saawariya and Student of the Year seem good movies. That says a lot about the film itself. Hero is made less with the purpose of demonstrating the acting capabilities of the newcomers and more with the intention of presenting their physical attributes. It’s been especially unkind to the TV actors, half-baked characters and writer‘s poor contemporary adaptation, which makes it leading lady sound daft and gives its hero zero personality, make Hero a yawn fest.
Indiatimes   Rating : 3.5/5
Hero is a delectable synthesis of startling onscreen beauty, dazzling high octane action, melodious music and merry froth. Hero offers bucketful of entertainment. Advani creates a similar effervescent ambience as the original, bubbling with the energy of its young debutants.
Filmibeat Rating : 2.5/5
Its' a known aspect that Hero is an old wine in new bottle but is it worth drinking this new wine? A one time sip only! Hero is a one time watch movie with nothing worth getting a special mention, apart from Salman Khan's song!
Rediff  Rating : 2/5
Hero isn’t set in 1983 and the original’s ‘top cop’s daughter falls for a golden-hearted crook’ narrative has long bitten dust. Unsurprisingly, this struggle to fit a modern-day romance in a dated template prompts a patchy, wobbly, bizarre, humourless drama proving an uphill task for two rank newcomers to tackle.
Bollywood Hungama  Rating  : 2/5
Nikhil Advani's HERO has been aggressively marketed and no corners have been cut to ensure that the promotions reach all across. If only the same amount of passion was invested in writing a nice dramatic entertainer.  On the whole, HERO fails the litmus test of rehashing a classic for the Generation Next. It appeals in very small measures and is not an ideal weekend entertainer. If you a die-hard Salman Khan fan, you may want to patronise, else avoid.
